Pieter Beeldsnijder

Pieter Beeldsnijder was a Dutch yacht designer who was known worldwide for his beautiful designs and craftsmanship. He was born in Edam in 1937 and grew up in a family of sailors and shipbuilders. His passion for boats and sailing started at a young age and he soon decided to dedicate his life to designing yachts.

Beeldsnijder studied naval architecture at Delft University of Technology and subsequently worked at various shipyards, where he specialized in yacht design. In 1970 he started his own design agency, called Pieter Beeldsnijder Yacht Design, which grew into one of the most renowned design agencies in the world.

Beeldsnijder designed countless yachts of different sizes and styles, ranging from classic sailing yachts to modern motor yachts. His designs were known for their elegance, functionality and excellent sailing performance. Some of his most iconic designs are the Frers 45, the Swan 44 and the Contest 35.

Beeldsnijder was not only a brilliant designer, but also a sailor and a lover of the ocean. He made many voyages across the world's oceans and his knowledge of sailing and the sea was invaluable for his designs. He understood better than anyone what sailors needed to sail comfortably and safely.

Unfortunately, Pieter Beeldsnijder passed away in 2016 at the age of 78. However, his legacy lives on in the many yachts he designed that still sail the world's oceans. His designs are timeless and have had a lasting influence on yacht building and sailing. Beeldsnijder was a true pioneer and his passion for boats and sailing will always live on in his work.
