Oyster

Oyster Yachts is a British luxury yacht builder that was founded in 1973 by Richard Matthews. The company has a reputation for building high-quality bluewater cruising yachts, and it quickly gained a loyal following among sailing enthusiasts.

In the early years, Oyster Yachts focused on building smaller sailboats, but in the 1980s, the company expanded its product line to include larger vessels. The Oyster 55, launched in 1986, was a breakthrough yacht that set new standards for luxury, performance, and seaworthiness. The company continued to innovate, introducing new designs and technologies, and its reputation grew along with its customer base.

By the 1990s, Oyster Yachts had become one of the leading yacht builders in the world, with a wide range of sailboats from 45 to 82 feet in length. The company's success continued into the 2000s, and in 2007, Oyster launched the Oyster 655, its largest yacht at the time.

However, the global financial crisis in 2008 hit the luxury yacht industry hard, and Oyster Yachts was no exception. The company struggled financially, and in 2012, it was acquired by a private equity firm, Balmoral Capital. Under new ownership, the company was restructured.

In 2017, Oyster Yachts launched the Oyster 745, its largest yacht since the financial crisis. The company also introduced several new models, including the Oyster 565 and the Oyster 595, which were designed to appeal to a wider range of customers.

Today, Oyster Yachts continues to be one of the world's leading yacht builders, with a reputation for quality, innovation, and customer service. The company's yachts are highly sought after by sailors around the world, and its future looks bright as it continues to expand its product line and explore new markets.
