Freedom

The Tillotson Pearson Inc. shipyard, based in the United States, was founded in 1955 and quickly gained fame as a manufacturer of high-quality sailing yachts. Throughout its existence, the company has made a notable contribution to the sailing community with its well-known and high-performing Freedom sailing yachts.

Tillotson Pearson Inc. was a pioneer in the design and construction of innovative sailing yachts. They were best known for their application of the 'free-standing' masts and the use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the hull construction. These technological feats resulted in a lightweight yet strong vessel, resulting in excellent sailing characteristics.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Tillotson Pearson Inc.'s Freedom sailing yachts were highly sought after by sailing enthusiasts. The yachts were not only fast and manoeuvrable, but also offered unprecedented freedom on board thanks to their 'free-standing' masts, which required no rigging. This meant that the crew could sail without worry and did not have to deal with complicated rigging systems.

Sadly, Tillotson Pearson Inc.'s activities came to an end in 1991 when the company went bankrupt. Nevertheless, the Freedom sailing yachts remain a lasting legacy of the company. Today these yachts are still loved by sailing enthusiasts for their excellent sailing performance and unique design elements.

Although Tillotson Pearson Inc. is no longer active, it is still remembered as a major player in the sailing yacht industry, whose contribution to sailing is celebrated by those who cherish and appreciate the sailing Freedom sailing yachts.
